Purpose: The Sako S20 piece, while magnificent, has some limitations in its original Picatinny rails. Here are the issues:
Zero Inclination: The original rails lack inclination (they are 0 MOA flat). This means that half of your scope’s adjustment range becomes useless. For most scopes and calibers, this limitation prevents shooting beyond approximately 800 meters without compensating.
Eye Relief Concerns: The rear rail segment is positioned rather close to the eye. Scopes with long ocular parts (like the S&B PMII 3-20x) may have insufficient eye relief for comfortable shooting.
Non-Replacement: These rails are machined with the receiver and cannot be easily replaced.
The Optilock Solution:
The Sako Optilock mounting base addresses these issues effectively.
